The Michigan City East Pierhead Lighthouse is an octagonal cylindrical steel tower mounted on a

square brick and steel fog signal building. In 1917, the color schemes of both the east and west
pierhead lights were changed, with the east pierhead fog signal being painted white with a red roof
and the west pierhead beacon painted red with a black lantern.The pier is a favorite spot for ishing and

watching sunsets.
