Frankfort’s iconic gateway straddles M-115 at the top of the hill east of town. The decorative
structure is built to look like two linked lighthouses. It is capped by a model freighter in homage to
the town’s shipping history. This gateway is to commemorate its decades as a transportation hub
where railroad freight cars rolled on and off ferries that carried them to and from Wisconsin.
