The irst lighthouse was built in 1899, then replaced in 1901. In 1905 a crib and concrete prier
foundation with a three - story octagonal brick house with a tower was put into operation. This was
replaced in 1961 with a 46-foot red steel tower. It was originally mounted on the crib, but is now located
at the end of the breakwater on the north side of the harbor entrance.
