During my research on light houses of Lake Michigan, I discovered Wisconsin and Illinois have a few
inland lighthouses. Wisconsin has six minimum size lighthouses on Lake Winnebago and Illinois has
three on the Fox River (Geneva & St. Charles).
The last page of this photo book “On the Shores of Lake Michigan” is a small list of resources I used to
provide a brief synopsis on each of the photos. I attempted to provide the dates of the current
lighthouses. Many of these lighthouses were second and third generations. Many of the previous
lighthouses were destroyed by violent storms.
