In 1892, a square timber-framed pyramidal structure to house the new 600-pound fog bell was built at
the upper edge of the bluf in front of the lighthouse tower. Sheathed in horizontal siding, the structure
featured a shingled roof and four diamond-shaped windows on the upper walls to allow light into the
building's interior.
